- Be
in good health and provide a medical report completed by a qualified medical
doctor (Applicants will also b required to take a specialised psychometric
test at the time of his/her interview.)
- Be
a non-smoker or be willing to stop smoking prior to departing for the U.S.
if required by the Host Family. (Smokers, if accepted, must follow the house
rules set by the Host Family.)
Childcare Experience
All Aupair
applicants must:

Enjoy working with and have
practical experience caring for children. (Practical experience may include
regular babysitting for non-family members, working in a day care centre,
volunteering in youth groups/sports cubs or similar experiences.)

Provide at least two
references attesting to his/her childcare experience and a personal or
employment reference
·
Have at least 200 hours of
infant care experience to qualify for placement in a family with children under
two years of age
·
Agree to study a childcare
handbook prior to departing for the U.S. and to participate in an intensive
training program upon arrival in the U.S.
Miscellaneous
All Aupair
applicants must:
- Be
prepared to enter into an agreement with the host family upon arrival which
outlines the days and hours (which may from time to time change) of child
care services to be provided,
- Agree
to maintain monthly contact with the Local Coordinator by attending monthly
cluster meetings,
- Have
never participated previously in an Aupair program to the U.S.,
- Be
available for departure over a minimum of two months to allow the U.S.
placement staff ample time to find the most suitable placement opportunity
for the applicant.
The Host Family
All Host Family
participating in the Aupair USA program must:
- Live
in an area covered by an Aupair USA Local Co-ordinator
- Provide
a private room and meals for the Aupair
- Be
a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Speak
fluent English
